The Hedges Inn is one of the oldest and most historic inns on the East end. The Hedges family, one of the founding families of East Hampton, began taking in boarders as early as 1870; it is believed that parts of the house date from the mid-1700s, and legend has it that the famous underground wine cellar was once part of the underground Railroad.
Built as a private residence in 1652, The Hedges Inn has long served as an inn and restaurant. Acquired by a new owner three years ago, it has been completely renovated.
